Hammerwatch is a dungeon crawler RPG mixed together with a rougelike game. Rules are simple. You have to smash through hordes of enemies, gain experience, upgrade your character, search for loot etc. There are six classes of characters which you can choose at the beginning of your adventure. Paladin, Wizard, Ranger, Warlock, Thief, and Priest are waiting for you. Each character has its own skills, strengths and weaknesses.

It is important for you to learn how they work, in order to be able to survive in this brutal dungeon. However, luckily for you the game has a multiplayer and a local co-op mode for you. Hence, you can join forces with other players and ultimately conquer the dungeon. Only by working together you will be able to win against the odds.

Despite the fact that Hammerwatch focuses mostly on the cooperative aspect of the dungeon crawler, it is still a very enjoyable game even for a solo player. You are going to travel through dungeons, kill many enemies and becoming stronger and a better hero. The sense of progress you are going to feel with each attempt is unmistakable.

Storyline

If you are looking for a complicated story, then Hammerwatch is not a game for you. The story is pretty simple and it exists only to put events in motion. You entered a castle filled with dungeons in order to search for riches and glory. However, the bridge behind you suddenly collapsed. Now the only thing you can do is to move forward. Get ready for your adventure. As you can see, the plot is rather straightforward. However, it does not necessarily mean that this is a bad thing. Hamerwatch is all about simplicity and it works great here. You are not going to care about plot because the most important thing for you is to simply kick asses and become stronger.
